Beach Ball Size Translucent Sphere Floats Overhead

Illinois. Credit: Wikipedia.

An Illinois witness watched a “translucent sphere” about the size of a beach ball float 40 feet overhead that seemed to be pausing over each rooftop as it moved along, according to May 15, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness testimony database.

The witness looked into the sky with night vision equipment just above where his game birds pen is on the property after seeing that the animals had been disturbed. After observing the sphere, the witness looked again without the night vision equipment and could not see the object.

The witness described the object.

“You could almost see through the sphere and it glowed more on the outer edges of its outline,” the witness stated. “I quickly pulled the scope down and looked right above me to try to see it. It could not be seen with the naked eye at night. I reacquired it in the scope and continued to observe it floating directly over my neighbor’s home briefly pausing and then continuing on to the next neighbor’s roof top – again pausing. I lost sight of it within about 3 or 4 minutes. I made several attempts to reposition myself to locate it but could not.”

The movement of the animals first caused the witness to look in a particular direction.

“The thing I remember just before I saw the object was, I have a pen of game birds which roost at night. Just before I saw the object my birds became very active in the pen. It made me wonder if a critter or coyote might be near them. At that moment the sphere became visible to me over head as I was pointing the scope back near the pen to see what got them going.”

No town name was mentioned in the MUFON report, which was filed on May 15, 2011. The event occurred on May 4, 2011, near 1:15 a.m. The above quotes were edited for clarity.
