A Morro Bay, CA, father and 12-year-old daughter driving home from Atascadero along Highway 41 in early 1991, had an encounter with a 20-foot-wide, glowing red, disc-shaped UFO, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The man first thought that the red light was an emergency vehicle and pulled his car off to the side of the road.
“When I looked back I noticed that the red light was now steady and not flashing and I realized that it was coming down the other side of the canyon slightly above and floating above the treetops,” the witness stated. “It was also maintaining a constant distance above the trees by rising and falling as it floated. there are no roads on that side of the canyon and I could see the reflection of the red glow which was coming from the curved bottom of a small (no more than 20 feet) disk shaped craft moving somewhat slowly as it followed the hillside.”
The witness woke his daughter up to look at the object, and realized that it was silent.
“As we continued to watch the craft made its way further down the canyon to a position across and slightly above ours and after passing that point it began to rise along the hillside while still moving forward until it reached the ridge at which point it went up and over the ridge and descended over the other side and out of sight.”
This case was reported to MUFON November 4, 2010. Morro Bay is in San Luis Obispo County, CA, population 10,350. No images or video were included with the report.
