A short time ago I wrote a column on this website on what had me become a conspiracy theorist. Since then I took a look at the other side of the coin to see what was to be seen from another angle.
If one wants to immerse themselves in the conspiracy theory angle, I suggest they do develop a degree in scepticism as it’s easy here to fall into fantasy and conjure anything into so called reality. Who knows, those who conspiracy theorists regard as the enemy are laughing as things made up about them just may not be true. Then all we are doing is playing into their hands. But if those in charge came clean and go public on what they are doing, a lot of conspiracy theories would fall by the wayside.
One area that has been fertile ground for conspiracy theorist is 9/11. One thing I noticed was that two slogans, “Attack On America” and “War On Terrorism” were used right after the Two Towers were hit. To this day I still wonder what exactly happened that wasn’t told to the general public. As the truth is out there but hid by the authorities, it’s no wonder why conspiracy theories abound as people want to fill in the gaps. Also, just what do groups like NASA and the Vatican know but not let the information they have made public?
I wonder just how much our world is shaped by imperfect humans and there isn’t any God’s plan for us. It may be a scary thing to comprehend but how much evil has been done in the name of religion or whatever God of the day religious people have created. How many people or groups have seen themselves as combatants in a never ending war against the system. Sounds like another conspiracy theory to me. It’s too easy to create a fantasy world to keep the reality out. Some of it is like believing something that was thrown out of the hole in Alice in Wonderland.
When Osama Bin Laden was alleged to be caught and killed by US Navy Seals not long ago, I found myself sceptical of the story. With the technology at the hands of the American military, why did it take them nearly ten years to capture Bin Laden, never mind finding out who was hiding him? Then they claim they can find a needle in a haystack with the technology they have. Uh-huh.
Before anyone goes public with what they believe, it’s a wise thing to do solid research before doing so. It’s easy to think that we’re being controlled by various agents of one kind or another, whether it be aliens, ghosts, demons, gods and so on. A habit I’ve noticed about humans is how they stick with their own group and demonize those they consider outsiders. So much for a global family.
How many of the worlds population falls into the belief system that freedom is misery or slavery is the ultimate joy? All we need to do is to slow down and take a look at how to unlock the shackles that bind us. Too many of us, individually or in groups, impose our belief system to bring order on what appears to be a chaotic world. Are things that chaotic or is it the various systems we’ve brought upon it?
I don’t want to see anyone looking up to any authority figures as parent substitutes or Big Nanny. It could usher in an Orwellian type world that we really don’t need. Mike Rivero, radio talk show host, said to the effect that “most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker, but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all.”
When searching for the truth it’s easy to get off the beaten path and get lost in the forest of deceit. It pays to listen and watch closely, not just hear and see things going on around us. While some conspiracy theories are no more than just b.s., we don’t need to reject all of them at first glance as some have a degree of truth to them. But it’s of no use to spend time in a make believe world believing things should happen according to some agenda. It takes a certain amount of self hypnosis or double think to achieve this.
I’m amazed on the amount of negative emotions out there being passed off as absolute truth. If it isn’t one thing, it’s another that people complain about. We need to start getting some solutions on the table.
George Orwell showed a lot of insight when he wrote “1984” and how propaganda has a toxic effect on people. The Two Minute Hate showed how effective becoming a screaming lunatic could release a lot of tension and hatred by shouting at a figure of the common enemy on a screen. In “1984” it was Emmanuel Goldstein, in today’s world it could be Osama Bin Laden or George W Bush.
What would it be like to live in a world where we had to confess our sins or thought crimes in front of a tribunal? Instead of real human consciousness, we get sanctified doctrinal purity that makes us supposed to be like the newly fallen snow.
I think I’ll pass on this. I want to live in a world that doesn’t have the us versus them mentality. Will we be able to achieve this? Your guess is as good as mine.
