A North Carolina witness reports a star-like object that rose from a nearby wooded area and moved quickly away.
A North Carolina witness reports an object “huge like a star” that rose up from a nearby wooded area and accelerated fast in an easterly direction shortly after 6 a.m. on August 10, 2011, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness first saw the object from inside a screened-in porch, ran outside with a video camera, but the video images only caught the object then at a distance. The video submitted with the MUFON report is available on this page – or at this link.
“I was looking northeast and I see this object just rising from behind the woods, “the witness stated. “It’s huge like a star and at first I thought that it was a helicopter. However, knowing that there are a few houses behind this woods and further down is a church and then a farm, this could not be a helicopter.”

No town name was mentioned in the public portion of the MUFON report, which was filed on August 10, 2011. The above quotes were edited for clarity.
North Carolina is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating, with a low number of UFO sightings nationally. North Carolina had 6 reports in July 2011 – while California had 54 UFO reports – the highest reporting state in the nation.

NC, August 10, 2010 – UFO rises from behind the woods. MUFON Case # 30788.
I was outside around 5:58 am EST and looking at the stars and having coffee on my porch. I first noticed what appeared to be a satellite to my West, however it was moving pretty fast. Then around 5 minutes later, I was looking north east and I see this object just rising from behind the woods. It’s huge like a star and at first I thought that it was a helicopter. However, knowing that there are a few houses behind this woods and further down is a church and then a farm.. this could not be a helicopter. I tried to get my video camera ready to focus, however since I was in my screened-porch it was not showing up great. So I went outside and tried to set up my tri-pod and it rose so fast that it was already above me. (Accelerated so fast) and no other lights from it. Then it started moving faster East and leaving my area. I ran out front of the house to see if I could catch it, but it was gone.
