Human beings seem quick to judge one another on the basis of race, religion, culture, sexual orientation or appearance. . This judgmental way of thinking is the root of hatred. It is curious that we think we are highly evolved while spending so much time passionately hating each other .
Yes as a species we may have evolved technologically but on many levels humans are still in the dark ages.
I often wonder if we will be able to cope with other beings if we were faced with the event of contact with aliens? How can we get along with other life forms if we cannot get along as a species? I have to wonder what chance we would have dealing with an entire different species if we hold so strongly to prejudges in our species. Would our attitudes make it easier to take us over due to our own ignorance?
As Ronald Regan said :
“When you stop to think that we’re all God’s children, wherever we may live in the world, I couldn’t help but say to him, just think how easy his task and mine might be in these meetings that we held if suddenly there was a threat to this world from some other species from another planet outside in the universe. We’d forget all the little local differences that we have between our countries and we would find out once and for all that we really are all human beings here on this earth together.”
White House transcript of “Remarks of the President to Fallston High School Students and Faculty,” December 4, 1985.
Also :
“In our obsession with antagonisms of the moment, we often forget how much unites all the members of humanity. Perhaps we need some outside, universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world.”
Speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Forty-second session, “Provisional Verbatim Record of the Fourth Meeting”, September 21, 1987
Ronald Regan had it right!
Most likely our alien visitors view us as an incompetent species . I cannot help but wonder if the way we deal with one another is the very reason first contact has yet to happen?
People all over the world report seeing UFO’s . It seems to be daily occurrences. We cannot even agree as a civilization on the fact we are seeing these strange objects much less come to together as a species to find out what it is that visits us regularly! Instead we do the human thing and harshly judge those reporting the unknown objects.
I do agree It is good to hold a healthy dose of skepticism but one must be aware that there is something there that these people are seeing. Judging or labeling people as crazy for their sightings or experiences is in my mind just plain wrong.
We all need to wake up and unite if we are ever going to figure out the truth of our universe and those we share this great cosmos with. We need to stop fighting each other and start learning how to get along with our differences .
Killing each other will only destroy our species . Wake up people put aside your anger and hate and learn to get along with each other. Only then will we ascend to the next level of evolution. I implore you to put aside petty grievances and holster your weapons in exchange for thinking and human growth.. If we do not do this we will be left alone to suffer the fate of our hate which to me is far more frightening than any alien could ever be!
We all need to do these things or we as a species will self destruct. That would be a shame as much as I am discussing our short comings I know inside there is so much good in my fellow humans. Let this be our time to end the hate and nurture what is best about the human race.
Remember to “Judge not lest ye be judged yourself”. It may be our ticket to joining our cosmic community.
